Traditional automation usually begins with a bounded task: identify a repetitive activity, define the rules, automate it and measure the efficiency gain.

Agentic AI changes the problem. An agent can interpret context, choose among actions, interact with systems and other agents, and continue working toward an outcome.

The design question therefore moves from “Which task can we automate?” to “How should this work be divided between humans, agents and systems?”
